Welcome to the Wonderment Preschool Site.   This site is a project of EDU 271-Educational Technology at Central Piedmont Community College.  These early childhood education students are exploring using technology to enhance educational settings for the children they teach, parents, fellow faculty and staff members and the larger community.

Technology Survey Results

Thanks to all parents who completed our recent technology survey.  We are grateful for the information and insight you provided.  What we discovered is that there are many different opinions about the use of technology with young children.  Some of you expressed fears about children being introduced to “screen time” too early or children spending too much time on technology and not enough interacting with others or on more “hands on” activities. Others of you are very enthusiastic about our upcoming plans to introduce new technologies into our classrooms.

We assure you that we ALWAYS have what is best for young children’s development at the heart of all we do.  In the coming weeks we will be sharing some literature with you regarding what research is showing us about young children and technology.  We can help “dispel” some myths and show you how, with the appropriate adult guidance, children can safely and effectively be introduced t digital technology as a learning tool.  We will also be inviting you in for some demonstrations of how we will be suing our new technologies before we introduce them into your children’s classrooms.  Stay tuned, and again, thanks for your input.

At Wonderment we love both our indoor and outdoor environments. So much is gained from our play at our indoor centers every day, but as the weather warms up we spend more  and more time outside.  Running, climbing, hiding, and enjoying the sunshine and warmth also contributes greatly to our development.  We find new muscles, smell new smells that we can now give names to, and familiar toys  brought outside give us a new way to see things.
